More easing of Melbourne’s business restrictions
The restrictions have been eased further now after 10 straight days without any new COVID-19 cases or deaths. The additional easing of restrictions will come in two stages: November 8 and November 22.
What businesses can reopen in Melbourne from November 8?
The following Melbourne shops and services can now reopen:
· libraries, galleries, cinemas, gyms, museums and RSL clubs
However, each venue is only allowed a maximum of 20 people, and maximum group numbers of 10.
This capacity limit will increase to 100 by November 22.
· bars, pubs, restaurants and cafes
However, customers numbers will be limited to 40 indoors and 70 outdoors. This capacity limit will increase by 100 and 200 respectively by November 22.
However, only 20 people are allowed in each gym and only ten in each designated gym area. This capacity limit will increase to 100 by November 22, and group classes will be able to resume for classes up to 10 people.
· indoor sports
These venues can resume activities for those aged under 18.
However, there is a limit of 10 people per room per venue.
What about regional Victoria?
The same restrictions outlined above apply to regional Victoria, as they have done since September 17 in those areas. Regional Victoria’s restrictions were eased earlier because they had fewer COVID-19 cases and deaths than metropolitan Melbourne.
When will the restrictions be eased further?
The restrictions will be eased further for both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria once COVID-19 cases full further and upon the advice of Victoria’s Chief Health Officer.
